Learn about shattering and classifier capacity through interactive challenges!
You're a pattern detector! Your job is to separate red dots from blue dots using different types of "classifiers" (separation rules).
Points: 3
Classifier: Line
Shattering: Unknown
1. Click dots to change their color
2. Try to separate red from blue
3. Test if you can handle ALL possible colorings
A set of points is "shattered" by a classifier if that classifier can perfectly separate EVERY possible way of coloring those points red and blue. If you have 3 points, there are 2³ = 8 different ways to color them!
The VC-dimension is the size of the largest set of points that can be shattered. For example:
1. Start with 3 points and the line classifier
2. Try to create ALL 8 possible red/blue combinations
3. Can you always draw a line to separate them?
4. Now try with 4 points - much harder!
